Furfural Plant ready to go

It's a remarkable time at the Proserpine Sugar Mill.

C-E-O John Power says in a matter of days production at the furfural plant could be up and running.

'It's certainly very exciting and you know it adds to the uniqueness and of the Whitsunday area,' said Whitsunday Regional Council CEO John Finlay.

The Furfural Plant at the Proserpine Mill which was officially opened in May, is the only bio refinery of its kind in the sugar industry.

Since then, the equipment has been tested to make sure it's properly functioning.
